Hotel Mapping and Room Mapping work differently. Room-level data isn’t something most suppliers make available upfront. Only a handful, Expedia and Hotelbeds among them, expose room data through their static APIs, and even then it’s usually just basic details, images, and descriptions, entirely depending on what that specific supplier chooses to share.
So how does Room Mapping actually work? When you call your supplier for rates and availability, the response gives you the available rooms along with their room-level data. You pass that data into Vervotech’s Map Room API, and based on what you sent, Vervotech returns the grouping.
Q: Does Room Mapping work in real time?
Yes.
Q: Does Vervotech use anything beyond what I send in the request?
No. The grouping is generated only from the data included in that specific request.
Q: Does Vervotech map the same room the same way every time (ID-to-ID mapping)?
No. There’s no ID-to-ID mapping. Grouping is based purely on the information sent in that call. For example, if your first call sends "Queen bed" for a room, the grouping is built on that. If your next call for that same room ID sends "King bed" instead, the grouping changes accordingly, since only the data in the current request is considered.
Q: Can a room ever come back unmapped or missing?
There’s no concept of an unmapped room. You’ll always get back every room you sent, grouped. If you submit 10 rooms, you get 10 rooms in the response. If a room’s data doesn’t match well enough with anything else, due to data quality, it still comes back, just as its own exclusive group containing that single room.
Q: Can I access my supplier’s own content through Room Mapping?
Yes. Details are in this FAQ: support.vervotech.com/.../47001299603
Q: Can Room Mapping be customized?
Yes. Customization options are covered in this documentation: docs.vervotech.com/getting-started-1289173m0
Q: Can I tell Vervotech to ignore certain attributes when grouping rooms?
Yes. You can download the full list of attributes Vervotech considers from the relevant API, then let us know which ones you’d like ignored for your account, so they don’t create a separate group, or which ones you’d still like treated as their own group.
Q: What about room images?
