Q: Why are certain properties unmapped?
A: Hotels may appear in the unmapped bucket for a variety of reasons. As a general guideline, we require some basic details to accurately map a hotel, such as:
- Provider Name
- Provider ID
- Hotel Name
- Address Line 1
- City Name
- Country Code (2-letter)
- Latitude and Longitude
While star rating is not mandatory, it is a preferred attribute that helps enhance mapping accuracy.
In some cases, the information shared by providers may be incomplete, inconsistent, or formatted differently ,for example:
- The property name is shared in another language or script (e.g., “Отель Москва” instead of “Hotel Moskva”).
- Address Line 1 is blank or only contains generic terms like “Near Beach” or “Downtown Area.”
- Coordinates are swapped (latitude entered as longitude and vice versa).
- Mixed language fields (e.g., half in English and half in another language).
- Special characters, or broken text like “Hilton@@Resort###M?ldives.”
When this happens, our system may not be able to map such properties.
When any of the basic mandatory details are not present, clients can work with their providers to ensure those fields are updated.
Please note that these are only general validation parameters. Our algorithm reviews a wide range of data points—such as the quality, consistency, and other factors. The quality of the data plays a crucial role, as the algorithm considers multiple parameters when determining the mapping outcome and whether a property can be accurately mapped.
Properties are only mapped when our system achieves a sufficient confidence level. This helps prevent incorrect mappings and safeguards the client from potential losses.
